Is Wayne Rooney Englands Biggest Concern

Posted by on Thursday, 9 September, 2010

Wayne Rooney with this England Team mates
During this media fiasco over the sordid romps of Wayne Rooney, people seem to be missing the whole point of why this came about and how it is taking it’s toll on the team in general. And yes, I know about the birds and the bee’s thank you, but the major issue here is that we are or were talking about football and not just daily gossip from the playground.

My major concern here is that this does have it’s problems with the team, and by this I mean the amount of media hijacking which goes on with those players who have not been used to the spotlight intensity.

We all knew the Rooney scandle had been brewing for months and that his antics were common knowledge at Old Trafford, I mean come on, please don’t treat the public as being a complete bunch of idiots. The main reason why it didn’t hit the press was due to the FA and Government placing a media block on such information being leaked and hindering the performance of the team in South Africa.

Instead, 70% of the team decided to take it on their own shoulders and completely ruin the hopes of the british fan base by playing like a bunch of has been hero’s, who couldn’t score, defend or keep goal for your average sunday team without letting them down to.

The simple answer to all of this is Fabio Capello and The FA, let them decide who plays and why so that everyone has someone to blame at the end of the day for good or bad performance, because that’s what everyone want’s – someone to pass the book to.

Anyway, as a female journalist I need to ask two solid questions:

1) Why did he think that by playing away the other person involved would never say anything to the press?
2) It may have cost him £1,200 for a night, but how much will this cost him mentally, let alone long term, financially?

Answers on a post card!

Gareth Barry Attempts To Correct England World Cup 2010 Fiasco

Posted by on Wednesday, 1 September, 2010

Gareth BarryWe all, if not most of us witnessed the huge dissapointment with Englands World Cup departure, as we retained the same trophy we have managed to keep since 1967, “Hasbeen Cup.”

Well, Gareth Barry has decided that he wants to make things better by telling the world that it is important that we, as a country and playing nation, should look forward to the Euro 2012 qualifiers which start against Bulgaria this Friday night.

Until Fabio’s team come out and turn the table, most of us including the players will be carrying the donkey of the World Cup – solets hope for the sake of our country that they can pull something out of the bag.

Gareth was the first to mention that even though he carried an ankle injury in the build up to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, he did manage to pull 100% fitness just days before the start of Englands down fall. But that isn’t enough when you consider the alegations of players “getting carried away” in the build up to the tournement with injuries which were apparently picked up on the trainning ground, yet were publicly captured by press photographers whilst players were enjoying other social past times.

The Manchester City player said: “We need matches, and we need to prove that the team still have the buring spirit to succeed in the highest level of competitions, and not just friendly matches.”

And guess what? He is talking the talk very well, but carrying the big white World Cup Elephant on your shoulders may be slightly heavier than you expect, Mr Barry! But time will tell, and I, just as much as any other sporting fan in this country, look forward to seeing some better performances in the build up to Euro 2012.
