Lindsay Lohan Released After Only Hours In LA Jail

Posted by on Saturday, 25 September, 2010

Lindsay Lohan In Jail 2010 – Lindsay Lohan was today released from the LA jail where she was supposed to be spending the next 30 days, only hours after she was taken in, by the Superior Court Judge Elden Fox. Lohan was bailed on this occasion, and a bail bond was posted, which is rumoured to be somewhere in the $300,000 range, according to the Country Sheriff’s Department spokeman.

Much like the last time, Lohan has been ordered to wear an ankle bracelet which is a drug monitoring system to detect anything that comes through the skin with her perspiration. She has to wear this for the next 5 weeks till her next court appearance on the 22nd October 2010.

This is not the first time she has been ordered to wear the SCRAM ankle bracelet, and the last time one was placed on her, it went off whilst she was attending an after show party for the MTV Movie Awards. In her defence to the Court Judge, Lohan claimed that someone had spilled an alcoholic beverage on her, and that she was not drinking or taking drugs.

The last time Lohan was in front of Judge Fox, he told her that should she fail the bracelet test and be found to be participating in recreational drugs, or anything harder, he would send her down for breach of her bail terms. Obviously this ‘promise’ was just for show, much like her first spell in the County Jail where she was sentenced for a total of 90 days, and she only stayed out a minimum of 13 days.

As like many celebrities, this type of ‘drug’ testing seems slightly poor and would only work if the person wanted to give up that style of life. It has been reported that Lohan has spoken to friends and said that she thinks she needs a rehab programme, not a prison sentence.

How bizarre a statement, because it was only a few short weeks ago when she was spotted leaving rehab!!

Paris Hilton Shipped Out of Japan

Posted by on Wednesday, 22 September, 2010

Paris HiltonEarlier this week, Paris Hilton was found guilty of possession of cocaine in an LA Court – which has now playing a part in her visiting other countries, like Japan.

On Monday this week, Paris Hilton was found guilty of possession of cocaine and fined $2000, ordered to do community service and was given a one year suspended sentence.

Miss Hilton, who is the daughter of the ‘Hilton Hotel’ family – flew into Tokyo early on the 22nd on a chartered aircraft with her sister, Nicky. She was detained by airport security and told to stay in a local hotel over night whilst they conducted their investigations and prepared to interview her the next day.

Hilton was due to appear at a fashion show in Tokyo’s Roppongi entertainment district – but following the news of her being held by Tokyo Officials, the event was cancelled. Miss Hilton had previously taken part in shows in Japan for fashion companies, promoting things like hand bags and perfume.

In Japan, authorities can detain anyone who they suspect to have been involved in drugs, or have been prosecuted for related offences.

Earlier today, Hilton decided to leave Tokyo via Narita airport, but it was not clear if it was of her own accord or she had been refused entry and placed back on the flight home by the authorities. No one from the Japan authorities would comment on the incident.

As Miss Hilton was leaving the airport, she commented to reporters that she was ” going back home, and looked forward to being back in Japan in the future.”

Granny Rushed To Hospital Following Face Pulling Competition

Posted by on Tuesday, 21 September, 2010

The Women’s World Gurning Championship took place this weekend, with one of it’s most well known ‘Gurners’ being rushed to hospital bringing a sad end to the day.

The ‘Granny Gurner’ Anne Woods, collapsed after pulling her funiest face ever and was rushed to hospital after she collapsed from pulling what was described as “the funniest face” pull ever seen.

The four minute performance took it’s toll on the 62 year old after she had been declared the winner at the Egremont Crab Fair in Cumbria.

Tommy Mattinson, who is the male champion for the 12th year in a run, spoke after; “I came outside to get some fresh air and could see Anne was lying on the floor.

One of the organisers of the event said; “Anne was kept in hospital overnight – and I think this whole episode may have been due to all the excitement or maybe the room being too stuffy.

Anne, who competes at the event on a regular basis was released from Whitehaven’s West Cumberland Hospital later on Sunday.

Due to the incident, Ms Wood was unable to collect her winning prize from the event, so it was collected on her behalf by one of her family.

The town of Egremont is to have been the host of this event dating from 1267.

According to unofficial sources, Anne is now home restings and is said to be putting on a ‘Brave Face.’

I bet that makes a change!

Susan Boyle Sets 3 New World Records

Posted by on Sunday, 19 September, 2010

Susan Boyle
It was announced today by The Guinness Book or Records that the scottish singing sensation, Susan Boyle (SuBo) has set 3 World Records in the 2011 edition of the mentioned book.

This all started with her album becoming the fastest selling female album in the UK, along with the most successful selling debut album in the UK as well as her being the oldest artist EVER to reach No1 with a debut album in both the USA and UK.

Susan, who sang for the Papal visit last Thursday – will appear in the latest Guinness Boook of World Records 2011 which is out this week at all leading book stores.

Boyle, who is originally from Blackburn, West Lothian spoke about her latest achievement; “This is a real honour, to be in the book that I used to read as a wee girl.

Susan was spring boarded into the lime light of UK viewers in the Glasgow auditions for Britains Got Talent TV show last year. After being asked how she was feeling about the new title she said; “I never dreamt that one day I would actually appear in the Guinness Book of Records. “I only ever wanted to sing and perform. This is truly fantastic.”

After her appearance on Britains Got Talent, SuBo’s rendition of ‘I Dreamed A Dream’ became one of the fastest climbing YouTube clips of all times being watched over 49million times.

The previous record for fastest selling album was held by Dido with ‘Life for Rent’ – and the most selling albums sold in the UK in 7 days was held by the Arctic Monkeys.

In total, the album went on to sell over 1 million copies in three weeks, which at the age of 48 is not a poor shout for a debut album, don’t you think?

‘Borat’ to Play Queens Legend Frontman Freddie Mercury

Posted by on Friday, 17 September, 2010

Sacha Maron Cohen | Boart
According to Internet News Channels, the ‘Borat’ star, Sasch Baron Cohen, is to play the role of Queens’ legendary frontman, Freddie Mercury in the upcoming movie. A representative of Cohen’s team have confirmed the intent for Cohen to play the star role.

Deadline.com reports that Cohen, who shot to pop-culture fame with his outrageous BrĂ¼no and Borat characters, will portray the British rocker in a film centered on the group’s developing years up until their historic 1985 Live Aid set.

Amongst much of the top music being considered, it was announced that the tracks “Another One Bites the Dust,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “We Are the Champions” and “We Will Rock You,” have been secured for the film by a group of film makers and well knowns’.

This means that the film based on the iconic band has probably been in the making for at least three years, based on the initial rumours which started back in 2007, when Cohen was approached to play the part.

What is interesting is that when this first reared it’s banner in the news all those years ago, Cohens representatives completely quashed the idea and classed rumours as being ‘completely untrue.’

Although Cohen has been tipped for the part, it has still not been formally agreed as far as a contract is concerned. But based on the fact they want to start filming in 2011, they need to get things set in stone.

The repertoire of Queen has already received the Hollywood treatment, with the stage production of ‘We Will Rock You.’ This musical alone has been on stage since 2003, which confirms the popularity of the 70′s iconic band, and the main man we all admired, Freddie Mercury.

Will Cohen give the right image for the film, or will his comedy style ruin the great image we all have of the ‘main man’ and his years of classic contribution to rock history?

You decide!

Help for Heros Concert Review, Twickenham Stadium

Posted by on Monday, 13 September, 2010

Help for Heros Concert | Twickenham Stadium
As much as it pains me to say this, it was one of those events where people were being divided into two groups – one who were just there to support the cause and have a good day, and the others waiting to see one very special pairing who were at the top of the bill.

And being frank and honest for those who have witnessed this before, I could only compare it to the Robbie concert a few years ago at Knebworth when they started the day early and put on a few “second level” acts to help bring people in and spend a day out, instead of just a couple of hours to see one band or artist.

At the end of the day, if you were going to watch one band or act, then you would already be prepared for the small delays between acts, the warm up groups and comedy – but hey, it is all worth it because it’s for a great cause, and every single penny helps!

So, the time came and the boys arrived on stage, went nose to nose and told each other (and 60,000 witnesses) how much loyalty they would give each other, whilst punching out the new single, Shame.

The crowd were just so excited to see them together again, that most of them probably didn’t even hear the song. The noise level pretty much outed the sound from the stage, but then it was Twickenham, not the O2 Arena.

Whilst I think most of you had a better seat at home watching it on TV, spare a moment for those who gave money and time to support our boys and probably didn’t get to see, let alone hear most of the entertainment at all. (Lets hope they recorded it, like I did!)

As for the rest of the day, and the people who performed: Pixie Lott, Alesha Dixon, The Saturdays, Tom Jones, Katherine Jenkins, Enrique Iglesias, James Blunt to name but a few – each gave a great contibution to the event.

So, one of the only things that I couldn’t understand was why they held this style of event in a place which is clearly not built, nor designed for this style of entertainment. OK, I know it’s for a good cause and all that, but people at the back of the stadium must have been bitterly upset due to the quality of sound.

Every single one of these guys put on a first class day under a second class situation – so lets hope that if Help for Hero’s decides to do something like this again, they manage to find somewhere that is positively more in tune with the event, and not a game of Rugby.

A great day out, which could have been far better should the event have been in a different place.

Ultimate Big Brother Winner is Jade Goody

Posted by on Saturday, 11 September, 2010

Jade Goody
After series 11 of Big Brother, ten years of TV screening and approximately 10:27pm on the 10th September 2010, Channel 4 closed the doors on the Big Brother cameras for the last time with what could only be called a “Big Bang.”

The final three were in the house and the final hour approached, and thousands of people voted for their Ultimate Big Brother contestant from the 10 years of broadcasting.

What seemed to be a close in many ways, re-opened some kindled thoughts about some of the previous contestants that were not there in body, but certainly in mind – one of them being the most famous house mate of all times, Jade Goody.

Whilst the three were sitting waiting to hear the outcome, Channel 4 displayed a heart fealt reportage and tribute of celebrity footage from people who had been won over by Jade since her triumph of hearts some four years ago.

One of the people within the VT was Max Clifford, the celebrity “straightener” who dealt with the PR of those who had stepped over the line and wanted to pull their image back, of which Jade had the pleasure of using due to her outburst in the Celebrity Big Brother house in 2007 with Shilpa Shetty.

Even though she came out and apologised for her behaviour and burst into tears, there was still a feeling of tension from people of Indian heritage. Following this, Jade accepted the offer of going to the Big Brother House in India to express her sadness and anti-racist stance, which was where she was dealt the devestating blow regarding her health issues.

Although you could see the tear in Davina’s eye after the VT had finished, she closed off with a few words: “I think at the end of the day she was just a vulnerable young girl and we just saw her, warts and all.”

So the close went smoothly, with the winner, Brian, second place Nicky and third place Chantelle – which still begs a final thought on the end of this dramatic programme in the UK:“Would Brian have won if Jade was still around?”

If you asked me that question, I would have to hand on heart say: “No, he would not have been the Ultimate Big Brother Winner, because that was most certainly Jade!”

Wouldn’t it have been interesting if Channel 4 had let the public vote online and displayed every single person from the 10 years of broadcasting to select the “Ultimate” contenders, wouldn’t the final line up have been slighty more interesting… agreed?

The All New BBC iPlayer Gets Unveiled

Posted by on Monday, 6 September, 2010

BBC iPlayer
In a week which has been as busy as any other, the BBC quietly sneaks up from behind and launches the all the iPlayer. But hold on there, because they have gone that one step further this time and created something a little bit special.

The completely revamped iPlayer features a Brand New Design that makes it easier to find TV programmes, personalisation tools, so that users can customise their viewing experience, and social networking integration, to enable people to share their favourite shows on sites such as Facebook and Twitter.

This new-look iPlayer, which goes “LIVE” later today, is the first major upgrade to the catch-up TV service since it launched in December 2007. With more than 1.1 billion minutes of video are watched on iPlayer every month. The service is available on a variety of platforms, including through television sets, on-demand TV services, online, through games consoles and on mobile devices.

Personally, I liked the iPlayer from day one and never even gave it a second thought – but now iI have had a chance of testing the new service, I can honestly say that it works far in excess of anyones imagination.

Jack Duckworth Leaves Corrie For The Last Time

Posted by on Monday, 6 September, 2010

Jack Duckworth
Over the last few weeks, soap pundits have been curling ears with their thoughts on how Jack Duckworth was going to be written out of the Corrie Cast. From a car accident to a fall down the stairs, which ever way it happened, it would not be forgotten by the tens of thousands of viewers around the UK and beyond.

The expression that springs to mind every time I hear the name “Jack Duckworth” is “When I was a lad…!” Yet, it seems that the lad in question, or gambling,, beer swilling cellar man from The Rovers has taken lodgings in a big box as he departs from the street for the last time.

Everyone and hisbrother turned out for the passing of the hearse as it rumbled down the old cobbled street. The mourning was lead by Jack’s on screen girlfreind and her “adopted” son and daughter-in-law – Connie Rathbone, Tyrone and Molly.

What made the ending so sad was that it looked so real, everyone was sad to the degree that even one of the pigeons shows his last respects by turning out in a grey mourning feathered suite.

There ends a great spell from Jack, knocking up 31 years in the street.

Whilst many soap fans will probably miss Jack and Vera (Liz Dawn who passed away in 2008) – you can hand on heart say that the cast, crew and everyone conected with Corrie will certainly miss Bill for his amazing talent and huge heart.

The End of a Legend, Peggy Bows Out of Eastenders

Posted by on Sunday, 5 September, 2010

Queen Vic Pub, Walford

“Can I Hold My Breath That Long?”

Again, fun and frolicks are about to begin as the BBC begin to screen some of it’s most anticipated episodes of the year, as crack addict Phil Mitchel decides to ignite the Queen Victoria in Walford. As the flames quickly spread and the pub’s locals try to make their escape, emotions run high and lives are put on the line during the spectacular scenes.

All of these story lines seem to tie in nicely with the departure of the Queen Vic’s Landlady, Barbera Windsor who plays Peggy – yet all of the final scenes and story lines have been kept a closely guarded secret.

EastEnders was named the Best Soap at the TV Choice Awards. The BBC One soap beat rivals Coronation Street and Emmerdale to pick up the award and it comes as the soap enters one of the most dramatic weeks in its history.

The departure of Peggy Mitchell from the soap will be marked with a huge and devastating fire which will destroy the Queen Vic pub and leave the fate of several other regulars in question. Viewers have been speculating for months over the fate of Peggy and other characters such as Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) who are also departing EastEnders.

So, if you are a Soapaholic, enjoy this week and I look forward to talking about the last few episodes this week and what is in store for the coming weeks.
