Web Design Gloucester at Affordable Prices

Posted by newsanim on Tuesday, 3 May, 2011

Website Designers GloucesterMany businesses are finding industry very difficult, with retail sales holding at a level over the last six months and the cost of business rising at the same time. So when it comes to eCommerce and Website Design, if you are a Gloucester based business – you have a local company who are changing the trend of web costs by holding their costs to a monthly plan instead of “all up front” as it has always been in the past.

This means that now you can get a website design, hosted with a domain name related to your business starting from just £15 per month!

Staggering when you consider that just two years ago a Quad Bike company that we have dealings with, paid nearly £15,000 to have their site built by a website designer – oonly to find that 2 months after they instructed the build that the country went into the recesion – making their new business based in Cheltenham, a difficult hill to climb.

We spoke to Steve Davis, the creator of OnKitz – the Affordable Website Design company, and he said this:

“We have noticed a distinct change in the industry over this last 12 months, which has meant we have had to completely change the standard business model for website design. Gone have the day’s where people have thousands to get their site up and running -and it is more like they only have hundreds instead.

Not only this, many design agencies see only how well a site looks, and not the most important part which is how well it performs in search results when people are looking for keywords and phrases related to your business. We have spent the last 18 months working with some of the best website platform companies in the world, and whilst making sure we can still give fantastic designs, the sites are also friendly to search engines”

So, even if you are outside of Gloucester, you can still get this amazing service from OnKitz . To say they are a local firm with an international portfolio would be an understatement – and having seen some of the great sites they have produced for their clients, I can see why they are changing their business model – and making things far more affordable for small to medium size businesses.

Speak to them – there is no pushy sales drive and they tell it from the hip – making it far more understandable to those who have little or no knowledge of the website design industry.

Go take a look at their site, and see exactly what we mean; Web Design Gloucester

Government Tries To Cap Ticket Resale Prices

Posted by newsanim on Friday, 25 March, 2011

:: And the Ticket Industry does NOT agreee with them! ::

Online Ticket FraudIt’s hardly surprising to think that when the government decides to enforce something, 9/10 times the industry that they are trying to help start to sit up on their hind legs like Meerkat’s, looking like nothing is wrong and they didn’t need any government intervention.

So when government officials decided to release the possible cap on ticket re-sellers, why did the industry start getting so upset over something they don’t have anything to do with? Or do they?

This is going to have to be slightly tongue in cheek – but here is the reason:

  • Ticket companies see the reseller situation and suddenly get the urge to do something “in house.”
  • Some of the big companies spend thousands having websites built to sell “unused” tickets.
  • One of these companies then begins to syphon tickets from big events before they go on sale.
  • Now the rest of the industry want a bigger piece of the pie – so are doing the same.
  • Why don’t they want a cap on resellers of tickets?

Do I need to spell it out any clearer than that?

In all honesty, the ticket industry are not concerned about the fraudsters who are selling the tickets for the big events, and scamming people out of hundreds, even thousands of pounds – they don’t care about the scam websites that pop up and sell tickets that don’t exist – they really don’t care about anyone else or anything else apart from their profit margin increase by using different methods to make more money from those who are TRUE fans.

So to wrap this in a nut shell, they have the tickets and you want to buy them – so even if you get scammed online by someone else, they know they would have sold all their tickets 3 times over – so why should they get concerned over scams?

And here is the real scary bit…

The government have put an anti-ticket scam website up too – so you can see what a scamming site looks like!!!

I’m not kidding here – the UK Government have decided to tackle this whole episode of ticket scamming, online ticket fraud and ticket resale by launching a website which is an “idiots guide” to spotting the type of website which may decide to take your money and not supply you the tickets you paid for.

It’s not the websites that are a scam – it’s the ticket industry that needs the kick up the backside – along with the credit card payment gateway’s for allowing these companies to even take online payments and run before the ink has even dried on the tickets!

Come on David, give the fans a break and do something construcive with the time you spend around the table – instead of tossing a coin and taking “best out of three” approach on what to do next!

Will Stacey Solomon Sing on National Television Awards 2011

Posted by newsanim on Monday, 24 January, 2011

One of the UK’s Queen’s of the stage and TV is coming back again, thanks to the National Television Awards 2011.

Stacey, who rose to fame on the hit TV show “Xfactor” on ITV – was always dressed to impress when she burst her enormous vocal attributes on the xfactor programme. When she got up on stage to sing the Freddie Murcury hit “live forever” she looked magnificent, dressed in a bespoke evening dress which was designed and created by Suzanne Neville.

Following the unique story of this Dagenham girl on TV was accelerated even more only a few months ago, following an appearance on “I’m a celebrity, get me out of here!” where she was crowned ‘Queen of The Jungle” by the british public. With the highest recorded votes ever received for one person on the hit TV show, i’m not surprised just how much the british public took this beautiful Essex Girl to their hearts.

So, with nearly 13,000 people who will pack the 02 Arena, and potentially between 7 and 10 million viewers on TV, it looks very much like Stacey will be delighting us with her unique voice and without a doubt, a stunning gown to promote her slender yet tall figure – but who will be the designer for this prestigeous event?

Only time will tell, but you can bet we will find out first – because we are like that!!

Boris Johnson Cuts £13 Million From Car Charge Point Budget

Posted by newsanim on Friday, 5 November, 2010
Electric Vehicle Charge Points

'No Charge Mr Johnson?'

With the recent review of public sector funds and how it is distributed, it comes as no surprise that one of London’s biggest ECO projects has been put under the knife by Boris Johnson, cutting £13 million from the budget.

The scheme which is already up and running in the city has over 250 ‘Juice Points’ at strategic points for people who have electric cars to charge up whilst they are shopping or visiting the capital.

But, with the recent reviews over public sector spending, Mr Johnson has cut the already tight budget from £20 million down to £7 million – keeping everything crossed that he can raise the funds through 3rd party sponsorship of the scheme.

Earlier in the year, the announcement of 7,500 charge points (Juice Points) to be installed by 2013 was released by the London Mayor, spread across a multitude of places including: Supermarkets, Tube Stations, Work Places, Car Parks and also street parking getting around 500 – all because he said that anyone would never be no further than 1 mile from a Juice Point, no matter where they parked within the city.

Johnson, who wants to raise the limit of electric vehicles on the road in the city to 100,000 by 2020 – will obviously have a hard time trying to back pedal his way out of this Eco mess. And Kuldeer Ranger, who is the transport advisor to Mr Johnson said: “These are clearly difficult times for public sector funding but by working proactively with our private sector partners we are confident we can still fulfil our goals.”

Well, it certainly makes a change for London Transport not to be charging something for motorists in the city!

BA and Ryanair Airlines Announce Increased Profits

Posted by newsanim on Monday, 1 November, 2010
Ryanair See Customers Increase

Ryanair see profits up on 09/10

During a year of uncertainty and 2 more travel businesses in Europe being taken by the recession, it was strange to find that two of the airlines in the UK which work the opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to passenger satisfaction statistics, were this week announcing profits were up.

BA this week announced a first time profit for the airline for nearly 3 years, and going by what we have been told this week, it will probably take them around nine years to catch up on what they have lost over the last two, for sure.

And the opposite side of the coin, Ryanair, have announced that they have seen a record rise for the same period last year, with nearly 13% rise in takings, 10% more people traveling and a euro3.03 billion increase into their reserve funds.

But how long will this last, going from what the previous government announced last year with respect to increasing the duty on flight charges, taking into account the distance you fly.

This may not hit Ryanair too much, as the majority of their flights are within Europe – but people like BA and Virgin Atlantic have been bombarding the government with objections since the tax was announced.

During the next few months, stealth increases will pave the way to a potential country wide dip. With tax being the big increase over the next few months – basic rate VAT rises from 17.5% to 20% – which will no doubt put the price of fuel up around £0.05p per litre, and the price of beer up by around the same amount per pint.

At least this may put an extra shackle on drink driving, as looking at the rises – no one is going to be able to afford to do both!

Pfizer Launches Mass Recall On Lipitor Drug

Posted by newsanim on Saturday, 30 October, 2010
Pfizer Inc - New York

Pfizer Recall of Lipitor Drug

Pfizer Inc – 30th October 2010

Today, Pfizer have launched a mass recall on their Lipitor drug amidst claims that cholesterol reduction tablet was giving off odors which resembled moldy and musty material that was damp.

The manufacturer based in New York have told press that they have recalled a total number of 38,000 bottles of the 40 milligram drug, which appears to have only been dispensed in the USA.

Concerns were sparked after two users of the drug reported the damp odor coming from the bottles, which Pfizer have now confirmed were supplied by another bottle manufacturer.

This is the third time in as many months that Pfizer have been caught by this odor, one in August and two in October – where by they have had to recall close to half a million bottles in total.

No matter what this recall brings to the surface, it’s pretty simple to say that the drug industry have had a strange year of it, with Johnson & Johnson having to recall some non-prescription drugs which could be purchased directly over the counter, and GlaxoSmithKline who had to settle an out of court payment of $750million regarding the case which was paced against them with respect to the Puerto Rico manufacturing deficiencies.

A spokesman for Pfizer said that they were taking more than adequate steps to solve the problems, adding that they were already starting to use specialist plastic pallets in a hope it will drastically reduce the possibilities of contamination within the bottles.

Alarm Bell’s In Haiti As Cholera Breaks Out

Haiti Cholera Outbreak Appeal For Help

Haiti Suffers Another Sizeable Blow With Cholera Outbreak

Whilst Doctors work around the clock to catch up on the first intake, more and more people are being shipped into the St Nicholas Hospital with symptoms of the disease.

What is worrying medical staff more than anything is that if this becomes an epidemic, they won’t have the people to cope, let alone the supplies to treat those who could possibly fight it.

So far, this water based disease has taken the lives of over 150 people, with nearly 2000 more suffering with the sickness.

Concerned about the possible outbreak spreading across the country, medical staff, doctors and nurses are crying out for more help to try and keep the disease contained within a small area.

Cholera, which is a bacterial based disease, can be spread in many ways, of which water and poor hygiene are the top two. Even going back to when the terrible earthquake happened in January, many were predicting that there was a high chance of an outbreak due to sanitary conditions across the country.

During a telephone based press call yesterday, Dr. Joia Makherjee, the chief medical officer of Boston based Partners in Heath said: “It was a very rapid, dehydrating illness, so we suspected it might be cholera and rapidly started to look for other cases in the community.’’

But they didn’t have to wait long before they realized what they were dealing with due to the numbers of admissions to the 200 bed hospital in St. Marc. But now that numbers are increasing at such a rapid rate, people are beginning to spill out into courtyards within the hospital grounds.

No doubt this will target yet another call out to the worlds medical community for help, with another plea for extra finance to build make shift medical centres to cope with the potential flood of sick people being carried to the hospital doors.

So don’t sit and think this is not in your back yard so doesn’t matter, because it does! Simply go to your nearest donation centre, or directly to the Ahiti Appeal website where you can donate to this much deserved situation.

33 Chilean Miners Emerge to Hero’s Welcome

Posted by newsanim on Thursday, 14 October, 2010

Chilean Miners Freed From Potential Grave

Last Chilean Miner Warms Countries Hearts With Joy and Happiness

It’s the news we have all been waiting for, as the final Chilean miner rises from the deep cave to see masses of well wishers, including the President of Chile.

After 69 days confined to a small area nearly half a mile below the surface, all 33 miners have been pulled from what could only be described as a potential mass grave, thanks to the quick thinking of the engineering and drilling facilities which have been pushing through the stone over the last few weeks.

Whilst the painstaking extraction is complete, the miners will still have a few hours before they can be completely re-united with the families due to basic health examinations on site then a short helicoptor flight to nearby Copiapo hospital.

The operation to get the miners out began to speed up during the day, thanks to the way the project had been handled from minute one, with miners surfacing from the 28inch hole approximately every 33 minutes.

The Chilean Health Minister, Jamie Manalich, was at the hospital this afternoon greeting the miners as they arrived, some with minor skin problems and eye ulcers, minor dental issues and one potential case of pnumonia. Manalich said that he estimated that all of the miners were expected to be at the hospital by Thursday at 4am local time.

With only extremely small complaints from the miners, the expected duration they will spend in hospital will be around 4-5days maximum, according to a statement made by Manalich.

This is the longest ever rescue situation which has been completed without any deaths or major injuries, which just goes to show that when in need, the world can pull together and make the impossible, possible.

Monumentus Birthday For John Lennon

Posted by newsanim on Sunday, 10 October, 2010

Give Peace A Chance | John LennonIt was 70 years ago today when John Lennon was born, and in December it will have been 30 years since he was killed. But, to mark the event of his birthday and place a shrine for many fans to visit – the fine structure took it’s place close to where was originally born for many thousands to see well into the future.

The blobal shaped ball with birds flying over it was installed over the last few days, and unveiled by Julian Lennon and his ex-wife, Cynthia.

But, whilst all this happened in the UK – Yoko Ono was in Reykjavik, Iceland – where she and her son Sean Ono Lennon, performed on stage with Lennon’s former bandmate Ringo Starr – as the ‘Plastic Ono Band.’

And this wasn’t the only global celebrations going on to mark this event, because Central Park in New York also hosted a live outdoor event as a mark of respect, The Quarrymen who were Lennon’s first band, played a tribute to a long lost friend and fellow band member.

The statue was create by a 19 year old female artist called Lauren Voiers, who was commissioned by the Californian based agency ‘Global Peace Initialtive.’
